Winner! Apps magazine compared our MapTrip Navigation Revolution app with five renowned alternatives in its November edition and selected it as the best traffic app for 2015 – as a newcomer to the Google PlayStore! The competition was stiff – major well-known brands – and the selection criteria strict: Versatility and innovation ultimately convinced the jury to choose MapTrip.
The requirements for making the short list: At least 1000 app downloads, an average four-star rating, more than one unique feature and problem-free display of the software on around eight different smart phones.
MapTrip advanced to the next round alongside Clever Tanken, ADAC App, Navigon, MapsMe and TomTom.
Three particular factors were decisive for the win, including the possibility to choose from various map materials (from OSM in the free or TomTom in the premium version), store these on the device or SD card – so they can be used even without an internet connection – and the ability to display the most favourable service stations along the route. The comparatively low price for the premium version (EUR 2.99 per month) appealed to the testers as well.
“With the latest version, one can even calculate the savings realised by filling up at the proposed service station. In our case we saved EUR 3.60 by putting 40 litres into the tank,” Apps magazine emphasises. The jury had MapTrip Navigation Revolution display the cheapest service station along the route, saving fully nine cents per litre as a result.
MapTrip can now be used with all premium features free of charge for 14 days from the initial installation: Including offline maps from TomTom for Austria and Switzerland, mobile speed trap warnings, LIVE display of the traffic situation (free-flowing, slow-flowing, congestion) and a lane assistant for complex intersections.
The user interface has also been revised and the route is reviewed at regular intervals for a faster way.
